So many good and bad things here. So, overall this defines a great read!

I disagree with much of it, but i"ll only address one part.

The one statement which I think is the most "wrong" is the indication that these displays of dominance (you are correct) are the realm of white people (you are wrong).

I'll be clear here. If the Black family next door (literally) or across the street (literally) from me creates a similar Christmas card, I'll be the first to take them down to the firing range for an afternoon of fun. In fact, "D" to the left of me is ex-miltary with, like, 6 kids. I actually *have* taken "C" across the street to a gun range. He was a complete newb, but was interested so we spent some time with pistols from a .22 to a .357.

Maybe we'll do my AR-style rifle or "urban sniper" 7mm when things calm down a bit COVID-wise.

One mistake in the Liberal culture is to too tightly align guns with whites. (Yes there is some of that nonsense at the fringes) The lion's share of gun owners legitimately believe that gun ownership is for all law-abiding citizens, and welcomes people of color to the club.

(as for the "dominance" displays, it's just as much "don't even try to take my guns" as it is a power display of, "don't even try to break into my house or threaten my family" in which case it's a non-political statement, even if you think otherwise)

Honestly, it's also a message of, "if shit goes down, come to us for help. We got this."

Savior complex, a little? Yes, but it's not nearly as nefarious a message as it's usually believed to be.
