Love you, but "no".

The paradigm of "in person is better than electronic" is 100% applicable to some people, but not all.

My career has found me being a leader of teams made up predominantly of neurodivergent geniuses. (<- double space/GenX alert!) I learned early in my leadership career that managing to personalities was critical to my success.

When people won't engage or make eye contact in person, but are animated and contributing electronically, a leader will adjust and acknowledge that "one size does not fit all" even with regard to person-to-person communication.

I'll go so far as to say that e-communication is overall superior, and for those who need human contact they can get together at lunch or after work.

"People" people do better in non-pface-to-face situations than introverts do in meat-space situations (or so I've witnessed).

As an "extroverted introvert" myself (one who appears to do well in groups, but they exhaust me) I will always advocate for the introverts, because God knows no one in HR is doing that.
