I'm a man of perfectly average height at 5'10". However, I grew two inches after high school, so much of my later dating life was in the 5'8 - 5'9 range.

I learned very quickly that the "long-legged goddesses" weren't being asked out, and they were already sick and tired of waiting for the few available tall guys, so I started asking them out.

I had significant success (even if it was along the vein of, "oh, hell, why not.")

In the end, I ended up with a beautiful, smart wife who is shorter than me flat-footed, and taller than me in heels, and it's never been an issue for either of us.

Now, would I have dated a 5'0 woman? You bet! It just so happens that, early on, I found a need and filled it.
