I had been using a very similar goal visualization technique most of my life before realizing it was a "thing."
As such, I've managed to hit every important goal I've set, and even a few lofty ones. ("Lofty ones" are "lofty" mostly because of the timeline, not the goal itself).
I think many people read this kind of stuff and think "BS", and that's unfortunate.
I read another article on Medium talking about "luck" being the most important ingredient to success, and I struggle with that based on people I've been around who are successful.
Similar to your own point here, I'd agree with the sentiment "you make your own luck."
