AntiWork Culture Is Everyone’s Victory
For some, however, the victory will be much bigger than for others.
Antiwork discussions surround me across all social media platforms. I see some of it on Facebook, of course, but a Twitter search for #AntiWork gives a fustercluck of results only vaguely associated with it (at the time of this writing) but a TikTok search of the same thing results in more apropos results. Do I hear accusations of China trying to demotivate our workforce?
Naaaaah…
In fact, my TikTok feed is absolutely inundated with #AntiWork, albeit because I have engaged a few times.
My Bad.
So, who wins in an antiwork environment?
Well, everyone, I guess. It seems that everyone (managers aside…they don’t count) gets what they want.
Workers get less work and more time to focus on self and family. It’s also easy to focus on self and family when you can’t afford to do anything else.
And anti-antiworkers get promoted.
I saw one series of videos where a TikTokker proposes “never give more than 70% of your effort”. He is, of course, countered with someone saying, “no, you need to figure out what the least possible to get by with is, and do that. Or, ideally, figure out the lowest performing person and outperform…
